This tool helps you calculate the price for licensing photos. You can set up different pricing factors and options. Let’s go through how it works step by step.
Default Base Price
At the top, you see “Default Base Price Per Photo.” This is the starting price for one photo. For example, if you type “100” here, one photo costs $100. If you change this number, the total price will update automatically. If you want to license more than one photo, the base price will multiply by the number of photos you choose.
Calculator Setup (Toggle Button)
Click the “Toggle Calculator Setup” button to open or close the setup area. Here, you can create rules for how the price changes based on different factors like how the photo is used or how long it’s licensed.
Adding Pricing Factors
In the setup area, click “Add New Factor” to create a new rule. For example, you could create a rule called “Usage Type.” Each rule has options. For “Usage Type,” you might add options like “Personal Use” (multiplier 1), “Commercial Use” (multiplier 2), or “Advertising” (multiplier 3). The multiplier decides how much the price increases. A multiplier of 2 means doubling the price.
Editing Factors
For every rule you create:
- Type a name for the rule in the “Factor Name” box.
- Add options using the “Add Option” button. Each option needs a name (like “1 Year”) and a multiplier number (like 1.5).
- Use the “×” button to remove options you don’t need.
- Use the “Remove Factor” button to delete entire rules.
Using the Calculator
After setting up your rules, close the setup area using the “Toggle Calculator Setup” button. You’ll see dropdown menus for each rule you created. Choose an option from each menu. For example:
- Select “5” photos
- Choose “Commercial Use” from your “Usage Type” rule
- Choose “2 Years” from a “Duration” rule
The total price will automatically update. The calculator multiplies the base price by the number of photos, then multiplies that result by all the multipliers from your selected options.
Saving and Loading
If you want to reuse your rules later:
- Click “Save Structure” to save your setup.
- Next time, click “Load Saved Structure” to bring back your rules. This way you don’t have to recreate them every time.
Example Calculation
If base price = 100,5photos=100,5photos=500. If you select “Commercial Use” (x2) and “2 Years” (x1.5), the calculation is: 500x2x1.5=500x2x1.5=1,500 total. The calculator shows this final price at the bottom in big bold numbers.
Important Notes
- Always set multipliers to 1 or higher. A multiplier of 1 means no price increase.
- You can create as many rules as needed (like region, exclusivity, etc.).
- The calculator works on phones and computers.
- Changes happen instantly no “calculate” button needed.
This tool helps photographers and businesses agree on fair prices quickly. Play with the numbers and options to see how different choices affect the total price.
